(For recent changes, take a look at What's New.)

The Civilization Page is a repository of information on various games that are titled Civilization. The first such game was the board game Civilization from Avalon Hill (actually, I believe they picked it up from another game company). Avalon Hill then later released an expansion set called Advanced Civilization.

Sid Meier liked the game, and created the computer game Civilization, which is published by Microprose. This game became immensly popular, and as a result, a networked version was later released called CivNET. Also, Microprose is working on a newer version, Civilization II.

About the same time Micrprose released CivNET, Avalon Hill released a computer version of Advanced Civilization.

Those are the commercial products under the name Civilization. In addition, people have created expansion rules for the board game, and cracks, cheats, and editors for the computer games. Also, some adventurous programmers have started work on their own games that are loosly based on the same concept as the Avalon Hill and Microprose products.
